In October of 2002 We had the thought that I could be pregnant with our second child. On the 15th of October we went out and got a pregnancy test, and it confurmed it. I called my doctor and got an appointment for the 1st of November. They confurmed it again, so I knew that I was pregnant.
It was a little scary at first because it was our second one and I wasn't sure how far along I was. On November 19th, 2002, John's grandfather passed away. It was a very hard time for all of us, expecially for him. We hadn't told anybody that we were pregnant, except for my sister-in-law. We planned on telling everybody on Thanksgiving. We figured it would be a nice surprise for everyone. Well we ended up telling everybody on Thanksgiving anyways.
My mother-in-law figured I was and was questioning John for about a month or so, and of course we denied it, because we weren't ready to tell everyone yet. We told John's parents, sister, and her friend first because we had dinner there first.
Then we went to my Dad's house and told them there. My dad, sister, aunt, grandma, and mammy were there. They were really happy for us.
Then we went to my Mom & her boyfriend Phil. They were really happy for us to. My mom looked at my stomach and told me we were having another boy. I though she was crazy because we already had Joshua and we figured it would be a girl.
The rest of John's family found out at the calling hours for his grandpa. Everyone was happy for us, even thou it was a very sad time for us.
My pregnancy was really uneventful. I enjoyed every moment of it. By the time Christmas rolled around I was huge. So, I was sure I was further along that what everybody thought. Boy was I right. They first gave me the due date of June 6, 2003. I was so hoping they were wrong because Joshua's birthday was June 4th.
We had an ultrasound January 13, 2003, our first. We found out that we were having another boy. We were very happy, we knew that he was happy and healthy. It was wonderful to see you on the monitor.
We had another ultrasound February 12, 2003, our second. They next gave us the due date of April 30, 2003. That was fine. This time on the ultrasound they noticed that his kidneys and stomach was bright on the ultrasound and wanted it to be checked by a specialist. Once again back to Akron City Hospital. This time we called on the 12th and got in on the 13th. So February 13, 2003, we were back at Akron City Hospital. We find out once again that our son will be okay, the only reason that it looked bright was because I was so thin. Or that is what they told me. But we were both fine.
At the beginning of March 2003 I started having contractions. John took me to Cuyahoga Falls Hospital, and yes I had started dialating. I was 1 centimeter dialated. They gave me a prescription to stop the contractions. I couldn't take the medicane because it made my heart race really fast and I couldn't stop moving. So I called the doctor and he told me to quit taking the medicane. They gave me another ultrasound. on March 10, 2003. They calculated that I was 32 weeks and 5 days along. My due date still was April 30, 2003.
The doctor started seeing me every week to make sure I wasn't dialating anymore. I started having contractions on April 10, 2003, John's birthday. They checked me and nothing had changed. They cracked my back and I felt so much better. All the contractions and pain was in my lower back.
When my due date was here we were at John's doctors appointment and still no contractions. I went to the doctor on May 1, 2003 and my doctor told me that if I hadn't went into labor by March 7th they were going to induce labor.
Well, Caleb came at his sweet time. I started having contractions at about midnight on May 5th. They woke me up, but I went back to sleep. I got up around 830 or so. Still having contractions they were getting stronger and stronger. I went to McDonald's to get John and Joshua some breakfast. When I got back they were coming and they were about 5 minutes or so apart, and still getting stronger. I took my sweet time finish packing mine, John's, and Caleb's bags. I wasn't ready to go to the hospital because Joshua's labor lasted so long I didn't want that to happen again. Finally about 1030 or so John told me it was time to go. So we left Joshua with my in-laws and went to the hospital. On our way we called my sister-in-law, my mom, my sister, and my dad. I called the docotrs office to let them know that we were on our way to the hospital and they asked if my contractions we at least 5 minutes apart and I told them yes, and they were getting stronger. We got to the hospital at about 1100 or so. They checked me and told me that I was 4 centimeter and was on my way to having him. We were excited that finally he was coming. My mom, sister, my mom's boyfriend Phil came up. My mother and sister-in-law were coming as soon as my sister-in-law was able to get away from work. When they got all the paper work done they asked me if I wanted an epidurel yet, I told them no just give me a shot of NewBane. And that made me feel so good. At about 200 or so they checked me and said that I was 6 to 7 centimeters and it would only be a few more hours. Everyone went outside for a few, When John came back in a few minutes later I threw my blankets off of me and said that I have to push. He ran out and got the nurses and the house doctor bacause my doctor wasn't there yet. They said that I was 10 centimeters and fully efaced. Alrighty then, let me push. On my second push they broke my water. At this time Caleb was crowning and coming with no intent on stopping he was ready and it was his way not anybody else's. John and I got to deliever him, the house doctor asked us if we would like to deliever him, of course we said YES!!! This was a very special moment for us, we got to deliever our son. Holy cow what a moment. Caleb was born at 2:16 pm on May 5th, 2003, he was 6lbs 4.8 oz and 19 3/4 inches long, with a head full of hair.
My sister and mother-in-law were on their way there. I was hoping they would of made it to the delievery. But they got their about 10 minutes after I delievered him. It was a wonderful moment.
Right after everything was taken care of I got to finally eat, I was so hungry. It was such a wonderful day.
